Question 6 from FOM* interview:
People love the music of McLeod's Daughters. What were the qualities you saw in Rebecca Lavelle that made you (and others) pick her for the job?
Posie's response:
From the time I made the movie of McLeods, I somehow felt that songs, and a single female voice, were going to be one of the important elements of story telling on McLeods. The songs say the things that the characters aren't able to, out loud.
Rebecca had shared a flat with Tim Harding from Hi-5 and when Chris Harriott (he and I write the songs together, he's the musical director of the show) was looking for a "new" voice, Tim suggested he meet Rebecca. We'd heard a few people by that time but he and I knew, once we heard Rebecca sing, that we'd found the voice we wanted. I still cry when I listen to "My heart is like a river"; her performance does that to me every time.
