Tess is a tomboy, harsh on the outside, but full of kindness and love on the inside. A true catch for the man lucky enough to win her heart.

Tess McLeod is the second daughter, from Jack's hasty marriage to city girl Ruth. When Tess was 5 years old, her mother left Jack, Claire and Drover's Run for the safety and sanity of city life. Tess is a true 'city gal', but she is learning what it takes to help her sister, Claire, run Drover's Run. Full of fun and energy and optimism, Tess is the 'go to girl', who inspires all around.

Meg Fountain is the heart of Drover's Run. Formerly a cook cum housekeeper, and Jack McLeod's secret mistress, Meg was devastated upon learning of Jack's death, and ready to move to the city. Fortunately for the women of Drover's Run, Meg decided to stay put, and she serves as "Mum" for the women of the spread. Meg's lover Terry is awfully happy that Meg decided to stay on, as well.

Pretty Jodi Fountain is your typical teen. At 18 she is ready to get out and make her mark on the world, convinced she is destined for fame. Drover's Run, is not the palce for her, nothing ever happens there, and she lives for the day she can leave for the bright lights..however, her terrible exam marks and her mother keep her on the Ranch, but it is working with the rest of the girls that Jodi learns what is important in life..and no one can do with out Jodi, either.

Fiesty Becky Howard is a local girl, with a bad reputation. When she finds herself in a situation that even SHE can't handle, Tess and Claire ride to the rescue. Claire offers Becky a home at Drover's Run, but proud Becky won't take a free ride, and insists on working for her board. The arrival of Becky makes life at the homestead a little more bearable for Jodi too, as the two young girls bond. However, it will take Meg a little more time to warm up to the troubled youngster.

Adventurous, reckless Stevie Hall knows no master. Fiercely independent and deeply loyal, this former rodeo champ rolls into Drovers as an old friend of Claire's, but may stay on for more than her wild streak bargained for. And although she's the capable Queen of do-it-yourself, Stevie's not above standing by friends and accepting their support in turn.

Kate Manfredi is the eldest of three daughters from a second-generation Italian farming family and a control freak. Her parents have always had high expectations of Kate and nothing she does seems to satisfy her over-critical mother. Although her parents seem to pressure Kate, it is nothing compared to the pressures she places on herself, however, life on Drover's is anything but controllable and try as she might, Kate can’t plan everything.

Regan McLeod is the daughter of Jack McLeod's estranged brother Hugh, and the cousin of Tess and Claire. Regan has a tough time fitting in, and resents what she sees as the wealth of her cousins on Drovers.

Down on her luck Moira Doyle has found a new home at Drover's, after a few moves in between. After learning that her husband is cheating on her, she leaves her home and her marriage and asks Harry Ryan for a job.
Working at the truck stop, as the head mechanic, she became Terry's boss. A single mother, with 3 children, Moira finds she is unable to make ends meet, and so she finds herself at Drover's, taking over for Meg as the housekeeper and cook, in order to pay for room and board.

Growing up on her family ranch, Sandra Kinsella-Ryan never as though anyone cared much for her. As a young woman, Sandra and Claire were best mates, until Claire realized that Sandra was out for one person only---Sandra. Through plotting and scheming she managed to become the new mistress at Killarney and Harry Ryan's new bride.
